More Hwy. 75 Wrecks

On Friday, July 2, at approximately 7:56 p.m., Blaine County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a motorhome-versus-car collision at the U.S. 20 and State Hwy. 75 junction.

Crash scene investigation determined that Cai Yan Wang, age 46, of Renton, Wash., was driving a Coachman motorhome with six passengers traveling westbound on U.S. Hwy. 20 when Wang failed to stop at the red blinking light intersection.

A female from Jerome, age 23, was traveling southbound on State Hwy. 75 in a 2012 silver Mazda with three passengers. The Mazda collided with the Coachman RV in the intersection.

Alonzo Jimenez Mendoza, age 31, of Jerome, a backseat passenger in the Mazda, and Zhao Ming Yang, age 47, of Newport, Maine, a passenger in the rear of the motorhome, were both transported to St. Luke’s Wood River Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries. Both of the vehicles received substantial damage and were towed from the scene. All the occupants reported wearing seatbelts. Cai Yan Wang was cited for Failure to Stop/Yield.

Then, on Sunday, July 4, at approximately 4:01 p.m., Blaine County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a motorcycle-versus-deer collision on Little Wood Reservoir Road, north of Carey. Crash scene investigation determined that Sherrie L. Young, age 61, of Redding, Calif., was driving a 2021 KTM motorcycle when witnesses reported a deer appeared directly in front of her in the roadway. Young did not have time to brake before hitting the deer at approximately 40 mph. Young was taken by air ambulance to Pocatello with multiple non-life-threatening injuries.
