Fly Sun Valley Alliance (FSVA), in partnership with Sun Valley Resort and Friedman Memorial Airport (SUN), has set the SUN airline flight schedule for the 2022 summer and fall season. This year, SUN will offer nonstop flights to six cities: Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, San Francisco and Seattle, with extended service to Chicago, Los Angele and San Francisco.

For the past three years SUN has had United Chicago (ORD) service in the winter, and now, with travel demand back on the rise, United is adding two weekly flights on Saturday and Sunday from late June through early September for a total of 22 flights for the season. The extended service to this major United Airlines hub will provide more one-stop connections from SUN to hundreds of U.S. and international markets.

In addition, United is extending its nonstop Los Angeles (LAX) and San Francisco (SFO) flights to run twice weekly, on Wednesday and Sunday, in September instead of ending on Labor Day. All the new flights are available for booking and the detailed 2022 summer/fall schedule is available at FlySunValleyAlliance.com.

Fly Sun Valley Alliance Director Carol Waller noted that pilot shortages remain an ongoing challenge for airlines and SUN is fortunate to continue to maintain good air service levels while other airports have lost service.

The overall SUN scheduled seat capacity for the 2022 summer/fall season, May through October, is down 12% from 2021, due to the airport closure for part of May and a reduction in SLC flight frequency from summer 2021. SUN seats were down substantially in summer 2020 due to the pandemic and then up significantly in 2021 due to an increase of three to four daily Delta SLC flights, Waller noted.
