OUR VOICE COUNTS
As a DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) recipient, it’s been super-important for me to realize that filling out the Census is a form of political power. It is our way, as undocumented and Hispanic/Latinx individuals, to understand that while some of us can’t ultimately vote, we STILL count.
I know many who are Hispanic or undocumented who have this fear that this is just another way for the government to attack their families or get their information, which is not the case. The Census helps fund schools, hospitals, improve neighborhoods, ensure public services and, moreover, allows us to know that we count and have the right to be counted.
As Hispanic/Latinx community members, we make up about 52 percent of the U.S. population—and, most specifically, 12.8 percent (est. 200,000 Hispanics) of Idaho. So let’s be counted, let’s make sure to use this to exercise political power, and be informed of how you can be CENSUS STRONG.

Como un recipiente de la DACA, ha sido súper importante para mí realizar que llenar el Censo es una forma de poder político. Es nuestro camino, como individuos indocumentados y Hispanos/miembros de la comunidad Latinx para entender que mientras algunos de nosotros no podemos votar, TODAVÍA contamos.
Conozco a muchos que son Hispanos, indocumentados, y/o miembros de la comunidad Latinx que tienen este miedo que esto sea sólo otro modo para el gobierno de atacar a sus familias o conseguir su información, que no es el caso. El Censo ayuda a escuelas del fondo, hospitales, mejore vecindades, asegure servicios públicos y además, permite que nosotros sepamos que contamos y tenemos el derecho para ser contado.
Nosotros, los Hispanos/miembros de la comunidad Latinx, representamos alrededor del 52% de la población de los Estados Unidos. Y más específicamente, 12.8% (est. 200,000 hispanos) de Idaho. Así que vamos a ser contados, vamos a asegurarnos de usar esto para ejercer el poder político, y estar informados de cómo se puede ser CENSO FUERTE.
