How and why you decide on a hairstyle speaks directly to who you are and what you’re about at that moment in your life. Hair is fashion in motion, always changing (it grows back!) and ripe for exploration.
Your hairdresser is a crucial asset personalizing design to signal your presence to the world. Moods change, and while having a consistent style is delightful, bold, classical even, the decision to shift styles is a uniquely human expression of mood and play. For a couple months you might wield the ‘dark academia’ look, then maybe swish a ‘bixie’ (bob + pixie), finally settling on the ‘quiet luxury’ look as you sip sparkling water, reading John Williams or Penelope Fitzgerald, surfing the joy of how people respond and the new conversations your look inspires.
Annie Jones is one of Hailey’s brightest self-made and long-reigning stylists tuning the coifs of countless clients for over four decades in the Valley.
While attending Idaho State University (ISU) in Pocatello, Jones would visit Challis and Hailey on the weekends, building a network of friends and clients. She got her start with the Brooks family’s Marinello Beauty Salon. The Brooks’ influence, beginning circa 1926, has sculpted moviehouse culture (they owned The Liberty Theater at one point) while also crafting sharp looks in the hair design of the Wood River Valley for a century now.
Jones traveled from Gooding to the Wood River Valley for years before eventually calling Hailey home. “I just kept working and working, and since I lived in Gooding, I was driving up here on the weekends. It was a lot! Now that I’m back in Hailey, I’d like to pick up a few more people. Connection is everything and just feels good in a genuine community!”
Q: Being so busy, Annie, how can folks book you?
A: “Honestly? Just come see me! I don’t really advertise because I’ve been here all my life and have a great, steady clientele. I love my clients and they’re all with me through word of mouth.”
Jones has built a lovely community of likeminded friends purely from in-person connection — something we could perhaps all focus on in our own lives!
Jones loves camping, gambling on occasion, and experiencing nature, which naturally leads to the lived artistry she expresses while teaching watercolor painting at The Senior Connection. Multidisciplinary, Jones also does beadwork, jewelry, and, as a dedicated rockhound, she scours the Snake River area for gems.
“Oh, yeah, when I was a little kid I was always hiking the Snake River and found some really great pieces. My current favorites are these incredible obsidian spheres. They’re so cool and there’s a ton because people don’t know what they are.” Jones laughs.
You’ll meet Annie Jones when you’re ready for a bonafide hairdresser with deep credentials and a passion for engaging. Her years living and knowing people in the Valley is richly shared.
Her way is simply show up in person and book a session. This is genuine community, old school, no emails or phone chatter. You actually meet, person to person. Jones is a fixture in the Valley delivering classic cuts, personal styling, color or trims. She’ll help guide you to your best hairscape.
Although in high demand, after moving to Hailey she’s made room for a few more bookings. The voice, the vibe, the talent — immediately apparent. Make a genuine personal connection. Conversation will be extraordinary while her scissorwork explains decades of steady clientele who appreciate the sweet beauty of Annie Jones.
