Wondering what the yellow signs “Neighbors Helping Neighbors” or “Vecinos Apoyando Vecinos” are about? Let’s share a little bit about the big impacts being made by this program sponsored by the Crisis Hotline together with PROJECT.O.O.L.S & PARTNERS, Herbert Romero, in response to COVID.
“Neighbors Helping Neighbors” (NHN) is a program designed to help keep our families emotionally healthy and engaged in the community. We accomplish this with our “boots-on-the-ground” approach to outreach: We are providing families with “care packages” that have games and activities aimed at keeping our children and families healthy and engaged. The packages contain great board games, puzzles, environmental activities, emotional tool-kit activities and, most importantly, updated information on how to stay healthy and safe, in addition to lists of local resources to help with specific needs; i.e., The Advocates, Blaine County Charitable Fund, St. Luke’s Center for Community Health, NAMI-WRV, The Hunger Coalition and so many more, including the 24-hour Crisis Hotline (208) 788-3596 or the new Bilingual Support Line (208) 578-4114. This past month we have even brought a CENSUS Presence at all our outreach. CensuSTRONG!
Since March, NHN has targeted outreach in Carey, Gannett, Sun Tree Hollow, Country Chalet, The Meadows, Balmoral, Bellevue, Hailey, and Ketchum, delivering trust and hope to over 600 children because of the amazing support we have received from The Tidwell Foundation, The Spur Foundation, The Heinz Foundation, the Board of the Crisis Hotline, Local Food Alliance, Lago Azul, SVI Blaine Recovery, Kiwanis, Blaine County Complete Count Committee, Atkinsons’, KB’s, Despo’s, Rickshaw, Perry’s, Chapalitas Meat Market, Bellevue and Hailey public libraries, Jane’s Artifacts, Iconoclast Books, Chateau Drug and so many more individual supporters and, OF COURSE, OUR VOLUNTEERS!! There is STILL more work to be done!! We recognize that we are not out of the woods yet and need YOUR HELP! “Neighbors Helping Neighbors” es un programa diseñado para ayudar a mantener a nuestras familias emocionalmente saludables y comprometidas con la comunidad. Logramos esto con nuestro enfoque de “arranque en el terreno”; Estamos brindando a las familias “paquetes de cuidado familiar” que tienen juegos y actividades destinadas a mantener a nuestros hijos y familias saludables y comprometidos. Los paquetes contienen excelentes juegos de mesa, rompecabezas, actividades ambientales, actividades emocionales de herramientas y, lo más importante, información actualizada sobre cómo mantenerse sano y seguro, además de listas de recursos locales para ayudar con necesidades específicas.
