If you have symptoms of respiratory illness and are concerned you may have risk factors for COVID-19, please call your primary care provider first. Clinic staff will be able to complete a risk assessment over the phone and provide guidance on next steps, which may include arranging testing, if needed. If you need to visit the emergency department to treat symptoms, call ahead to your local facility and ask for a protective facemask when you arrive.
Any general public with questions on local public health response efforts and general questions about this new virus can call one of the following Public Health Departments:
South Central Public Health, which serves Blaine, Camas, Gooding, Lincoln, Jerome, Minidoka and Twin Falls counties, can be reached 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays at (208) 737-5900.
Central District Health, which serves Ada, Boise, Elmore and Valley counties, has a call center that will operate weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at (208) 321-2222.
Southwest District Health, which serves Adams, Canyon, Gem, Owyhee, Payette and Washington counties, is operating its call center weekdays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at (208) 455-5411.
Infection prevention
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, use the same precautions you would for the flu and common cold. St. Luke’s recommends these infection-prevention practices:
If you’re sick, stay home. Call your provider if you suspect you have the virus.
Wash your hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve–not your hands–when coughing or sneezing.
Clean your home, workspace, shared items and other frequented locations.
Avoid unnecessary contact with sick individuals.
CDC does not recommend that people who are well wear a facemask to protect themselves from respiratory diseases, including COVID-19.
Facemasks should be used by people who show symptoms of COVID-19 to help prevent the spread of the disease to others.
