Styled Twice Consignment Boutique
By Mike McKenna
Fate is a funny thing. You never know when it’s going to pop up and send your life in a positive new direction.
Blair Brakovich and Kerry Guggenheim can certainly attest to this.
Blair hadn’t planned on owning a consignment shop in Ketchum, but that’s where fate led her and she couldn’t be happier about it.
“I never thought I would do consignment, but I love it,” she said, from the couch in their bright, clean, stylish store just around the corner from the Magic Lantern theater.
Blair grew up in Laguna Beach, Calif., but her family has been regularly visiting the Wood River Valley since the 1990s. In 2004, Blair decided to leave the Southern California coast for a new life in the Northern Rockies. It’s one of the best decisions she’s ever made.
“I love the small town, mountain life,” she said.
Blair enjoys skiing, hiking and being a mom to her son, Luke, who’s a junior at the Sun Valley Community School. Like most locals, she’s worked a variety of jobs over the years, primarily in the retail sector, while also working at Ozzie’s Shoes for over a decade.
It was at Zenergy where she met Kerry. Kerry grew up in Connecticut and had lived in Northern California for years. Her sister has been living locally for three decades and Kerry was a frequent visitor. Four years ago, Kerry decided to move here and has been very happy with her decision.
“The community has very much welcomed me,” Kerry said, “and I’m really starting to feel like I belong as part of this incredible place.”
An avid runner and exercise enthusiast, Kerry has a lot of experience in retail and in the boutique consignment industry.
As soon as Kerry and Blair met, they instantly connected. It turns out they have the same birthday, were born in the same hospital, their parents were friends and they’re both left-handed. But, more importantly, they both have a passion for clothes and for helping people find their perfect fit.
“We really compliment each other,” Kerry said. “Our meeting was fate.”
After exploring a couple of different business options, the pair decided to open Styled Twice Consignment Boutique last November and the community has quickly embraced their business.
“Everyone has been super supportive,” Blair said.
What makes Styled Twice unique is that they have great hours, including being open six days a week, no appointments are needed to drop off potential consignment products, and the combined experience and knowledge of Blair and Kerry assures that they offer high-quality, upscale clothing for women, men and kids at affordable prices. In fact, everything in the store looks fresh, bright and cheery.
“We love clothes and dressing people and helping them find things that will make them look and feel good,” Kerry said.
It sure looks like fate smiled upon Blair and Kerry and our community is better off—and better dressed—because of it.
