The Senior Connection has appointed Jovita Piña as its new executive director. With 15 years of extensive operating and nonprofit experience, Piña takes over a spot previously held by her mentor and co-worker for the past 15 years, Teresa Beahen Lipman. Piña will assume responsibilities starting July 1.

In 2017, Lipman brought Piña onto the leadership team at the Senior Connection with the intent of Piña being her successor. Lipman’s original retirement was planned for December of 2020, but the global pandemic forced the organization to push back its Sustaining Campaign, which Lipman wanted to see through to its successful end.

Lipman and Piña are credited with transforming the organization into a more efficient and sustainable operation.

“I am beyond honored to be taking the Senior Connection torch from such a great leader.  It is a very large and bright torch, but I am up for the challenge,” Piña said. “I know I can depend on the support of our staff, the board of directors and our members. I am grateful that they have trusted me to continue moving our organization forward.”

Lipman said she will be moving into her new Quigley Farm home this summer. By September, Lipman will serve as a consultant to the Senior Connection as needed.

“Besides my husband and my kids, this has, by far, been the best thing I’ve ever done in  my life,” Lipman said.
