Snowshoe With A Ranger

Free weekly Snowshoe with a Ranger tours run through March. Participants will meet on the porch of Galena Lodge before taking a 1.5-mile, 2-hour tour exploring the history of mining at Galena Lodge and the winter ecology and tracking of the snowy landscape. 12U Baseball Tryouts

The Wood River Baseball and Softball Association invites baseball players who will be 12 and 11 years old through August to try out for this year’s Traveling All-Star Baseball Teams. The season will run spring through midsummer. It includes home practices and scrimmages midweek with one home tournament and travel to six regional tournaments this season. The Community Library’s 2020 Winter Read concludes with a presentation and book signing with Jamie Ford, author of “Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet.” This program can be viewed on The Community Library’s LIVESTREAM page during and after the event. Seats will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Ford, a Northwest author, is most widely known for his bestselling Seattle-based novels. A bestseller, “Hotel” won the 2010 Asian/Pacific American Award for Literature, and was a finalist for the Washington State Book Award, the Pacific Northwest Book Award, and the Langum Prize for Historical Fiction.

Idaho Women 100 Kick-Off

The Hailey Public Library and Blaine County Historical Museum will hold a kick-off event to celebrate Idaho Women’s Day and the 100th anniversary of the passing of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, giving most women in America the right to vote. Participants will march to the Old County Courthouse where the Governor’s Proclamation will be read. At 12:30 p.m. participants will ring bells as will Emmanuel Episcopal Church as a symbolic gesture that unites all Idahoans in commemorating the right of women to vote. Tax Assistance

Blaine County residents with household incomes of less than $66,000 per year can get free income tax preparation assistance. IRS-certified volunteers will be available every Saturday until April 11. The preparation assistance is part of the IRS’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program and is spearheaded by local resident Courtney Noble, who ran the United Way of King County’s free income tax preparation campaign in Seattle for several years.

Mountaineer and Sun Valley Community School parent Ed Viesturs and Director of The Nature Conservancy in Idaho Mark Menlove will be featured speakers at a fundraiser hosted by the school’s Outdoor Leadership Academy to benefit The Nature Conservancy in Idaho. The event is a partnership between the OLA and WOW: The Generosity Project and aims to raise awareness about climate change and the impacts climate change has on mountain communities worldwide.
