An effort by one of the Valley’s longest-running philanthropic organizations to make up for fundraising shortfalls due to COVID-canceled events just got a booster shot.

The Papoose Club confirmed this week that an anonymous donor has contributed $12,000 to purchase the collection of 19 framed, commemorative Wagon Days posters that had been donated to the club earlier this year. Since 1977, the Wagon Days Pancake Breakfast has been a community tradition and a critical fundraiser for the club, garnering around $10,000 annually. Because of COVID-19, the club decided to put the Pancake Breakfast on hold for another year.

It gets better. Already a separate anonymous donor had made a matching donation offer of up to $10,000, putting the final funds raised at $22,000.

“The generous purchaser of the collection desires that it be shared with many. She is donating it to The Senior Connection,” Papoose Club president Anna Matthieu said.

Papoose Club coffers have helped dozens of youth-oriented and conservation-focused organizations over the years, such as: The Community Library, Girls on the Run, Idaho BaseCamp, Sawtooth Botanical Garden, Crisis Hotline, The Hunger Coalition, Wood River Land Trust’s Student Conservation Council, and many more.

David and Renae Spaulding donated the collection of Wagon Days posters that hung in their guest house for years.
