Do you have questions about how to do your taxes? Are you confused about how your immigration status might affect your tax returns? Do you have friends or neighbors who have questions about their taxes?
Please join The Alliance on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2021, at 6 p.m. for a free community workshop on Zoom about how to do your taxes. Bring your questions. Bring your worries. And get answers from an expert! Robert Wunderle, CPA, from La Posada, will join us to educate us about our rights and responsibilities as taxpayers. He will discuss topics like:
- Changes to the Federal Stimulus and how it might affect your family;
- Why it’s important to do your taxes; and
- La Posada’s free tax clinic.
There will also be an hour of Q&A. You can ask questions during the session, or, if you have specific questions that you would like answered, please email Becky Lopez (in English or Spanish) at Becky.Alliance@gmail.com. If you send your questions in advance, she will make sure Robert Wunderle addresses them during the workshop.
In addition, beginning Jan. 27, 2021, La Posada will be at The Hunger Coalition every Wednesday to help people file their tax returns, at no cost. To make an appointment with La Posada, please call The Hunger Coalition at (208) 788-0121. They will tell you what documents you need to bring to your appointment.
Finally, La Posada is looking for volunteers who want to learn how to help people do tax returns. They offer a two-week training program. The test is open book, and if you pass it, you will be certified to volunteer to help with tax returns—a much-needed resource in our community.
