Laughter as Medicine

I just listened to a podcast from a woman I follow about the benefits of laughter, especially deep belly laughter and its healing properties. From her perspective, it is as if deep true belly laughter harmonizes your body to a frequency of love which transmutes negative emotion into higher vibration.
Well, after listening to this, I knew why my New Year’s resolution was to experience as much belly laughter as possible. It is not always easy to find sources of belly laughter in our everyday world, but I am on a mission to fill my world with as much genuine laughter as possible. My sister-in-law and I find a way to make each other giggle at simple things each day but it is not that unabashed deep-cleansing laughter that I am seeking. Thus, I decided to look for a different avenue for my belly-busting laughter.
Knowing my penchant for thinking out of the box, I decided to ask ChatGPT to tell me a gut-busting joke. Are you ready for the response? A man walks into a bar carrying a slab of asphalt under his arm. He says to the barkeeper, “Give me a beer — and one for the road.” Oh my, it did make me laugh, maybe not the gut-busting laughter I was seeking but laughter nevertheless.
I thought back to times in my life when I had experienced the desired deep laughter and remembered a time when an individual was having their dog neutered and wanted artificial testicles placed in the dog’s scrotum. Do you know they actually make plastic testicles for dogs? They come in small, medium and large. We searched our providers for such items, ordered them and installed them according to the owner’s wishes. Now, I don’t know about you, but this request brought me belly laughter for days.
I know we all have different senses of humor, but I would like to challenge you to look deeply for yours, become best friends with it and accept the challenge of finding a deep belly laugh every day.
We seem to have no difficulty in finding things that trigger discontent. What if we spent as much time focusing on things to laugh about. I have a friend who watches cat videos on YouTube to get her quota of laughter. My sister-in-law watches YouTube comedians for her daily installment of humor. I would love to know what each of you do to find your deep belly laughs. If we share the sources, maybe we can uplift the world with our joy.
Chuckles to each of you and deep laugh-clearing experiences for all. Blessings, Dove
