OUR VOICE COUNTS

The spirit of community was alive and well this past weekend as the Shoshone Project welcomed more than 650 residents to the Lincoln County Community Center for a holiday event filled with warmth, generosity, and joy. Over 170 local families were treated to an outpouring of support, marking a milestone in Shoshone Project’s first year as an official nonprofit.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of the community, families were gifted $16,000 in gift cards to FarmHouse Grocery, warm clothing, bags of groceries, homemade tamales and cookies, and thoughtful presents for their children. Santa even made a special appearance to spread holiday cheer to the little ones.

“This event was all about more than just providing resources—it was about treating each person with dignity and respect,” said Heather Wesley, board member of the Shoshone Project. “Seeing the smiles on the faces of parents and children reminded us why we do this work.”

The event also brought together several local organizations, including the Hunger Coalition, St. Luke’s, the Blaine County Charitable Foundation, the Lincoln County Youth Center, the Lincoln County Recreation District, and 4H of Lincoln County, offering valuable resources to families in need.

As the organization looks ahead, Shoshone Project envisions an expansion of its efforts to support food security and local youth in Lincoln County while staying true to its grassroots beginnings. With the help of our entire community, this holiday season was brighter for many residents in Lincoln County.
