Power House is perhaps the most unique of all restaurants in the Wood River Valley. A bicycle repair shop that doubles as an upscale American eatery, with a to-die-for ahi sandwich and craft beers galore, they are doing something right. The place is packed on any given night and the next, or first, time you visit, be on the lookout for Megan Lube. “Yes, high school was, shall we say, fun!” Lube pokes fun at her oddly appropriate last name – fitting for a waitress at a bicycle repair shop and, just perhaps, a cheeky joke. lol.

Lube is an absolute charm of a waitress. She speaks quickly with certitude and a wry sense of humor. Incredibly available, she loves to talk but knows when to let one eat.

At 27 years old, Lube has spent nearly her entire life in the Valley. “I graduated from Wood River High School in 2015, played sports and skied. I basically grew up behind a pair of handlebars up on Galena,” Lube laughs, “on a snowmobile.”

Before Power House, Lube was bar manager at Zou 75 just across the street and has made the rounds at a few eateries. “I’ve worked at Jersey Girl and a couple other places. I love the restaurant gig. It’s fun, it’s energetic and, you know, I’m a people person, so I like to have that kind of interaction with everybody.”

A new mother, Lube has the nurturing vibe that works so well in her craft. “ I just had a baby, so for fun right now, I’m just, you know, hanging out with the baby, watching him crawl, doing all that stuff. My parents, also, are pretty active. We like to go boating at Magic Reservoir or Anderson Reservoir, or we snowmobile up at Galena or out at Baker Creek.”

An outdoor enthusiast, mother and one of the friendliest, most attentive servers you’ll run across at one of the most popping restaurants in Hailey, be sure to meet Megan Lube at Power House.

Power House restaurant is open from 4–9 p.m. Thursday through Tuesday, with Wednesdays off. (The bike shop is open 10 a.m.–4 p.m.)

Located at 502 N. Main St., Power House burgers are bombastic and you’re unlikely to meet a local who doesn’t worship the blackened ahi taco salad. Ask for Megan Lube and, guaranteed, you’re in for a treat. (powerhouseidaho.com)
