Five local dancers were recognized and inducted as Dance Scholars in the National Honor Society for Dance Arts this past week. The students (pictured) were:
- Malia Foley (senior at WRHS)
- Ava Knowles (junior at WRHS)
- Hazel Ludwig (junior at WRHS)
- Lilia Page (junior at WRHS)
- Bridgette Silva (junior at Sun Valley Community School)
Most of these dancers have been dancing since they were 4 years old. They are all company members of Footlight Dance Centre. The induction ceremony took place Friday, Feb. 18. The National Dance Honor Society is part of the National Dance Educators Organization. The WRHS chapter is one of over 300 chapters across the United States that supports excellence in the dance arts, academic achievement and leadership. The WRHS faculty advisor is Angie Telford, with Hilarie Neely, director FDC, administering the program, with 24 members from Footlight participating in this chapter.
