On Sunday, Dec. 12, at approximately 8:10 p.m., Blaine County Sheriff deputies initiated a traffic stop on First Avenue near First Street in Ketchum, which resulted in five misdemeanor charges and one felony charge.
Upon investigation, it was determined that the driver and sole occupant of the 2016 gray Dodge Journey, Kaiya Lee Lentz, age 27, of Ketchum, had sideswiped a Ketchum Street Department vehicle and struck a school speed limit sign earlier in the evening.
Lentz was charged with Driving Under the Influence Excessive–Second Offense, Possession of a Controlled Substance–Marijuana Less than Three Ounces, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Duty to Report Upon Striking Fixtures on Highway, and Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol in a Vehicle, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Lentz has a 2018 conviction for Excessive Driving Under the Influence, making this arrest the second excessive in five years a felony. Excessive DUI is defined by Idaho Code as a blood alcohol content of 0.200 or higher.
