Blaine County Commissioners, at an afternoon special meeting today, agreed to allow the County’s more stringent local restrictions related to preventing the spread of coronavirus to expire at 11:59pm, Sunday April 19,2020. Those restrictions were contained in Blaine County Ordinance 2020-02, which supplemented the State’s March 25, 2020 Self Isolation Order. Blaine County’s coronavirus response restrictions now will be those detailed in the April 15 Department of Health and Welfare Amended Self-Isolation Order.
The Commissioners also directed the County’s Building Services Department to provide jobsite work standards to the economically important residential and commercial construction trades. Building Department officials may visit jobsites to ensure health and safety best practices are communicated to workers and followed. If they are not, the County could revisit the need for more demanding public health restrictions related to preventing coronavirus transmission. Commissioners were reminded that local law enforcement is empowered to enforce the statewide order, which includes social-distancing and other requirements.
Commissioners in their deliberation emphasized the importance of continuing social distancing and other personal health and safety measures, in order to prevent a second wave of infections. “We need to continue to be diligent and have good practices in place,” said Commissioner Angenie McCleary.
