‘Captured In Sun Valley’

10AM / Regional History Museum / Ketchum

Regional History Museum in Forest Service Park will host the exhibit. “Captured in Sun Valley” features photographs taken for the Union Pacific Railroad Publicity Department during the 1940s and 1950s. These were designed to entice and excite potential guests into visiting Sun Valley for some winter recreation and relaxation.

Blood Drive

Taizé Service

Ed Cannady

Ed Cannady, photographer and retired wilderness manager for the Sawtooth National Recreation Area, will share some of his experiences during a three-month solo journey in the Canadian Rockies. “Ed’s photographs are magnificent,” said Kristin Fletcher, adult education coordinator. Trivia Night

Snowshoe With A Ranger

11AM / Galena Lodge / Galena

Weekly Snowshoe with a Ranger tours run through March. Participants will meet on the porch of Galena Lodge before taking a 1.5-mile, 2-hour tour exploring the history of mining at Galena Lodge and the winter ecology and tracking of the snowy landscape. Time For Three

Screening ‘True Justice’

Sun Valley Community School’s Parents’ Association will host a free public screening of the HBO feature documentary, “True Justice: Bryan Stevenson’s Fight for Equality.” This feature documentary follows Alabama public interest attorney and founder and executive director of the Equal Justice Initiative Bryan Stevenson’s life and career and the shared struggle to create greater fairness in the criminal justice system.

New Moon Dinner

Sawtooth Botanical Garden and Idaho Conservation League will host a new moon catered “farm to greenhouse” dinner. The event will be held in the heated greenhouse, with a snow bar, warming fire pits outside the greenhouse, and night sky viewing telescopes outside on the darker north side of the Visitor Center. Fly Fishing Film Fest

5PM / The Argyros / Ketchum

Eleven films from around the world’s waters will highlight the 2020 International Fly Fishing Film Festival. The 6- to 16-minute films will be hosted by the local Hemingway Chapter of Trout Unlimited. Doors open at 5 p.m. with time for raffle prizes and mingling. Films start at 6:30 p.m. with nearly two hours of fly-fishing adventure screening. The $20 ticket supports the Chapter’s fish rescues, river restoration projects, public access monitoring as well as extensive student, veteran and adult programs in the Wood River Valley. Tickets are available at Silver Creek Outfitters, Lost River Outfitters and Sun Valley Outfitters in Ketchum or at the Trout Unlimited office in Hailey. Winter Bird Tour

The Environmental Resource Center and local birding expert and artist Poo Wright-Pulliam will host Winter Birds of Silver Creek Preserve. There will be an introduction to the Preserve, birding, and local birds before heading out on a snowshoe walk to look for various eagles, swans, grouse and ducks. Bring water, snacks or lunch, warm clothes, and your curiosity. Solution Saturday – Low-Plastic Diet

Wood River High School’s W.A.T.E.R. Environmental Club and the Hailey Climate Action Coalition will present a discussion and workshop to help participants learn how to reduce the amount of plastic brought into our homes and lives. Open to everyone.

Taimane In Concert

Sun Valley Center for the Arts will present ukulele virtuoso and songwriter Taimane, a native of Hawaii of hapa Samoan descent. Taimane is renowned for both her pyrotechnics on the ukulele and her prowess in using music and movement to paint vibrant images that elicit deep emotional response. ‘Vienna Meets New York’

Sun Valley Opera will present “Vienna Meets New York” starring Zachary James and Melody Wilson. James has performed on Broadway in the “The Addams Family,” as Abraham Lincoln in Philip Glass’s opera “The Perfect American,” and in the Olivier Award-winning production of “Akhnaten.” Wilson will make her debut with Seattle Opera in “Eugen Onegin” and as the mezzo-soprano soloist in Paul Moravec’s “Sanctuary Road with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. Cancer Support Group

This information and support group will provide a connection to other people who have been diagnosed with cancer.
