Hikin’ Buddies

9:30AM-1PM / Adams Gulch / Ketchum

Sponsored by Mountain Humane, Hikin’ Buddies allows hikers to take a shelter dog for a hike, or hang out and socialize some of the smaller dogs. Meet at Adams Gulch trailhead to pick out a buddy. To get to Adams Gulch, take Hwy. 75 north through Ketchum, then turn left at Adams Gulch (across from Bigwood Golf). At the T in the road, go left and follow to the parking lot.

Discovery Club

Discovery Club is for children ages 2 to 5 and their adults, who will meet at the sandbox to explore, do yoga, and interact with the Garden and each other. Wildflower Walk

This week, the SBG’s Wildflower Walk will be a slow walk on a nearby mountain trail, identifying native plants and looking for wildlife. Participants should bring lunch, water, sun protection, and clothing for mountain weather. No dogs permitted. Meet at the Sawtooth Botanical Garden, south of Ketchum, to carpool to the trailhead. Centennial Celebration

To celebrate the Hailey Public Library’s 100th birthday, there will be a kids’ carnival all afternoon. Local author and historian Rob Lonning will conduct a free, hour-long historic tour of downtown Hailey at 4 p.m. At 5 p.m., The Kim Stocking Band will entertain while local dance instructor Vicki Aberbach will demonstrate line dancing. There will be food and beverages from Lago Azul and Sun Valley Shaved Ice. Sun Valley Brewery will offer wine and beer, including a special centennial brew. Caritas Chorale will present the free “Summer Sing, A Dynamic Choral Learning Experience” led by Jim Jirak of Boise State University. The ‘Sing’ is free and open to the public, but reservations are required. A picnic will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Atkinson Park. Caritas Chorale will provide hotdogs, hamburgers and the fixings as well as table service. Party For Paws

Mountain Humane will host a Party For Paws benefit concert with blues and soul singer/songwriter Chris Pierce, at its new campus out Croy Canyon. Pierce has released seven albums, and has either performed with or opened for Seal, B.B. King, Al Green, Blind Boys of Alabama, Toots and the Maytals, Aaron Neville, and many others. Food trucks from KB’s, Sawtooth Brewery, and the Wood River Sustainability Center will be onsite and will donate 10 percent of their proceeds to Mountain Humane. The bar will be stocked by Party Animal Vodka, Talley Vineyards and the Warfield, served by the Red Shoe’s bartenders,with 100 percent of bar sales going to Mountain Humane. Ketch’em Alive will feature Pixie & the Partygrass Boys, playing joyous folk pop, from Salt Lake City. The opening band will be Frida’s Eyebrows. Picnics, low-backed chairs and blankets are welcome; there is also food and drink vendors onsite. Celebrating its 20th year, the concert series is always free and open to everyone.
