New Moms Group provides newborn and breastfeeding support and an opportunity to ask questions and learn the basics of caring for an infant. The presence of professionals, as well as other new parents, makes this group a comfortable and valuable experience. Bring your baby and your lunch, if you wish.

Vape Talk

Cody Orchard, health education specialist with South Central Public Health District, will discuss vapes, e-cigarettes and Juuls to help parents and educators understand these trending devices, along with the risks, history and research around tobacco and nicotine. The talk will be held at St. Luke’s Hailey Clinic, Carbonate Rooms.

Ski Rotarun
Various / Rotarun Ski Area / Hailey

Operated by the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation, Rotarun Ski Area is open to the public for skiing and riding during the 2018-19 season. Public ski days are Wednesdays and Fridays, 5:30-8 p.m. (free) and Saturdays, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. with a suggested donation. There is no sledding at Rotarun this season.

‘Gather Around’ Humming Bull

The Sun Valley Center and Idaho Basecamp invite people of all ages to share a story involving food—growing, sharing, preparing or eating it—with the theme “Gather Around.” How does food create connection and bring us together? What are our stories from the dining table? Gather­ing for a meal is a foundation for conversation and cementing relationships (even if sometimes fraught with conflict). Stories will be limited to 5 minutes. Mat Gershater of Idaho Basecamp and the Humming Bull will be the night’s host. All ages are welcome. Storytellers should arrive before 5:50 p.m. to sign in. Entry fee is $10 / $12 nonmembers of The Center.

Sun Valley Center Après Art

Designed for families with kids who are 5–12 years of age, Après Art classes will be offered Fridays through March 22. Participants and their adult caregivers can drop in anytime between 3 and 5 p.m. to warm up with a mug of hot chocolate after a day on the slopes and make a winter art project to take home.

‘Dinner with Friends’

‘Dinners With Friends: Recipes for Storytelling’ is part of The Center’s current BIG IDEA project, At the Table: Kitchen As Home, which celebrates the kitchen as a place of comfort and connection to our present and our past. This evening of reflection, food and the personal stories behind the creation of this award-winning theatre company will take place at the Liberty Theatre in Hailey. The event is free, reservations are required and a donation of $10 is suggested.

Presented by Sun Valley Opera, Michael Fabiano, an American operatic tenor will perform at the Argyros Center. He has performed in such houses as the San Francisco Opera, New York Metropolitan Opera, Paris Opera, Teatro alla Scala, Canadian Opera Company, Teatro Real, and The Royal Opera among many others. Fabiano is the 2014 Richard Tucker Award winner and the 2014 Beverly Sills Artist Award winner, making him the first singer to win both awards in the same year. Sun Valley Opera presents Metropolitan Opera’s Live in HD will present George Bizet’s “Carmen.” Enjoy behind the scenes interviews at intermission and get to know the singers, conductor and tech people. Most operas start at 11 a.m. and tickets are $16. Tickets are available for purchase at the Bigwood 4 Cinema at any time. Students are free as part of Sun Valley Opera’s educational outreach. Doors open one hour prior to screening.

The Sweet Remains

Presented by the Sun Valley Center, The Sweet Remains—Rich Price, Greg Naughton and Brian Chartrand—will perform for one night.

“During the course of a show, they’ll often gather around one mic and sing a cappella, which is part of the history of the group,” said Kristine Bretall, The Center’s director of Performing Arts. “Local Middlebury College grads should know that both Greg Naughton and Rich Price graduated from Middlebury, and while they were each involved in theater there, Greg was also a member of the college’s male a cappella group, the Dissipated Eight. His vocal chops come out in the band’s three-part harmonies that hearken back to the incomparable Crosby, Stills & Nash.”

The Sweet Remains’ educational outreach activities are supported, in part, with funds provided by the Western States Arts Federation, the Idaho Commission on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
