  • United adds more weekly flights from San Francisco and Los Angeles, twice daily during holidays

Fly Sun Valley Alliance (FSVA), in partnership with Sun Valley Resort and Friedman Memorial Airport (SUN), has announced that the SUN airline flight schedule for the 2024-25 winter season will offer daily nonstop flights to six cities – Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Denver, and Salt Lake City – with additional frequency on key routes for the season.
Delta Air Lines, which serves Sun Valley year-round, will increase to three daily nonstop flights from Salt Lake City (SLC) throughout the winter season, and will add a new nonstop flight from Seattle (SEA) five times weekly from December 21 through January 5, and three times weekly from February 14 through March 30. Delta will also add a new nonstop flight from Los Angeles (LAX) on Saturdays from December 21 through March 30.
United Airlines will increase its daily year-round nonstop service from Denver (DEN) to two flights daily from December 12 through March 30, and will also run its Los Angeles (LAX) and San Francisco (SFO) flights daily from December 12 through March 30 and adding a second daily flight from both cities during the holidays, December 19 through January 6, and on weekends from January 10 through March 30. United will also offer its nonstop flights from Chicago (ORD) daily from December 21 through March 30.
Alaska Airlines, which flies nonstop from Seattle (SEA), will offer two weekly flights from November 3 through December 15, increasing to daily flights from December 16 through April 21, with two flights on most days through March 16.
“This coming winter’s SUN flight schedule is very strong, with more frequency on many of our nonstop routes, including Salt Lake City,” said Carol Waller, executive director of Fly Sun Valley Alliance. “Our strategic focus is to improve convenience and access for all SUN air travelers to benefit the community. Our air passenger survey statistics show that over 54% of SUN commercial air passengers are local and part-time residents and the friends and family coming to visit them,” she noted.
The overall air seat capacity for SUN for the 2024-25 winter period, November through April, will be up 14% from the previous winter season, primarily due to the additional daily SLC flights. Winter flight reliability at SUN has also improved dramatically due to the new landing system approach technology used by the airlines, resulting in an over 95% flight completion rate during recent winter seasons.
