{"id":7613,"date":"2016-05-05T22:06:28","date_gmt":"2016-05-05T22:06:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/idsunmedia.com\/?p=7613"},"modified":"2016-05-05T22:06:28","modified_gmt":"2016-05-05T22:06:28","slug":"idaho-press-club-honors-the-weekly-sun-for-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/woodriverweekly.com\/index.php\/2016\/05\/05\/idaho-press-club-honors-the-weekly-sun-for-2015\/","title":{"rendered":"IDAHO PRESS CLUB HONORS THE WEEKLY SUN FOR 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><i>\u2018Sketchbook Hiking\u2019 column wins, paper receives increased news reporting recognition<\/i><\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em><span class=\"s1\">BY\u00a0WEEKLY SUN STAFF<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_7614\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7614\" style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-7614\" src=\"https:\/\/idsunmedia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/terry-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"Terry Smith, The Weekly Sun\u2019s news editor, received news reporting awards in the \u201cCrime \/ Courts \u2013 Weekly Print\u201d and \u201cAgricultural Reporting \u2013 Weekly Print\u201d categories.\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-7614\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Terry Smith, The Weekly Sun\u2019s news editor, received news reporting awards in the \u201cCrime \/ Courts \u2013 Weekly Print\u201d and \u201cAgricultural Reporting \u2013 Weekly Print\u201d categories.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p3\">The Weekly Sun received several awards from the Idaho Press Club at the association\u2019s annual awards banquet in Boise on Saturday night, including increased recognition in the news reporting categories and continued top placement for columns.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">At the \u201cBest of 2015 Awards Banquet\u201d at the Owyhee Hotel, Sun News Editor Terry Smith took second in the \u201cAgricultural Reporting \u2013 Weekly Print\u201d category for a news story titled \u201cCloud-Seeding Operation Expanding in Wood River Basin.\u201d Smith also brought home second- and third-place prizes in the \u201cCrime \/ Courts Reporting \u2013 Weekly Print\u201d category for news stories titled, respectively, \u201cAccused Murderer Escaped Shooting Rampage in 1977\u201d and \u201cCamas Murder Case Transferred to Blaine County.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">A first-place award was bestowed by the judges on Leslie Rego for her art column \u201cSketchbook Hiking\u201d in the \u201cSpecialty Column \u2013 Weekly Print\u201d category.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">In the \u201cGeneral Column \u2013 Weekly Print\u201d category, JoEllen Collins and Dick Dorworth placed second and third, respectively, for Collins\u2019 column \u201cOn Life\u2019s Terms\u201d and Dorworth\u2019s column \u201cPeaks &amp; Valleys.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">The Idaho Press Club is a statewide association of working journalists from all media, including retired journalists and journalism students. The club\u2019s members also include teachers and public relations professionals.
