\n\"\"There\u2019s an old saying that goes, \u201cExperience is the best teacher.\u201d
\nIt\u2019s an apropos statement for most things we deal with in life, especially when you\u2019re trying to deal with a persnickety problem like an appliance issue.
\nThankfully, Peak Appliance Solutions has 30 years of experience dealing with these types of issues. The family-owned small business has recently relocated to the Wood River Valley from Colorado.
\nAfter experiencing life in other parts of the country, it didn\u2019t take long for the Olsen family to realize that Sun Valley would be a perfect place to move their business and call home.
\n\u201cWe visited here and after just three days we knew we could live here,\u201d Julie Olsen said. \u201cThere\u2019s a great sense of community here and a small-town feel that we really connected with. We wanted to be here and be a positive part of it all.\u201d
\nJulie, her husband Todd, and their daughter Elodie, moved from the Central to the Northern Rockies last summer. Elodie is a gifted ski racer and one of the big reasons they decided to move from Summit County to the heart of Idaho is because of the world-class programs offered by Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation and Sun Valley Community School.
\n\u201cThe support between the school and the program is terrific,\u201d Julie said. \u201cEveryone has been so kind and welcoming.\u201d
\nJulie, who grew up Wisconsin, runs the operations for Peak Appliance, while Todd takes care of everything in the field. Originally from New Jersey, Todd has a carpentry and construction background and, as Julie said, the perfect temperament to fix just about anything.
\n\u201cAppliance repair isn\u2019t easy. It\u2019s really a specific skill,\u201d Julie explained. \u201cHaving 30 years of experience really helps. Todd has just about seen it all at this point.\u201d
\nPeak Appliance offers maintaince, repairs and installations and covers warranty work for most major manufacturers. Todd\u2019s work van is filled with just about every part imaginable and they\u2019re happy that their repair work helps keep less items from winding up in the landfill.
\n\u201cBeing a positive part of the community is very important to us,\u201d said Julie, who volunteered as a local ski coach this season.
\nPeak Appliance also prides itself on a straightforward and simple approach to business.
\n\u201cBeing honest, real and organic fits our business model and our family,\u201d Julie said. \u201cWhen you call or email us, we may be small, but you can rest assured it\u2019s going get done right the first time. We know how to pay attention to the details.\u201d
\nTheir model is clearly working as customer referrals are the strongest source for business. Peak Appliance has quickly earned a solid reputation amongst local contractors, including teaming up with fellow Chamber members at MLD in Ketchum.
\n\u201cEverything has really fallen into place for us. There are a lot of great people and families here that support each other. We\u2019re really happy to be a part of it,\u201d Julie said. \u201cWe may be new, but we\u2019re sticking here. It\u2019s a special place.\u201d<\/p>\n
