\nI must have been around eighteen, while visiting a friend. His mother turned on classical. Said, \u201cHere\u2019s one I recommend.\u201d
\nShe played Bedrich Smetana\u2019s famous piece called, \u201cThe Moldau.\u201d That day I learned how classical would pierce my soul somehow.
\nI didn\u2019t tell my country friends. \u2018Twas too much of a dare. I knew for sure they\u2019d kid me. We called classical, \u201cLong Hair.\u201d
\nI must admit I worried. Was I guilty in a way? \u2018Cuz the music that weren\u2019t country felt like sinnin\u2019, you could say.
\nWhen thirty years had passed me, kept the secret in my brain. I found myself in school, a change of living to obtain.
\nSo, I signed up for a music class in hopes to just get through. The gray-haired aging teacher said, \u201cThis class is meant for you.\u201d
\nI wondered how she really knew or was she just polite? \u2018Cuz once again my soul was stirred from classical delight.
\nWe listened to Beethoven, as the class time would allow. And then our keen instructor played Smetana\u2019s, \u201cThe Moldau.\u201d
\nI listened so intently to the Moldau\u2019s every note. Then wrapped the music \u2018round me like a winter overcoat.
\nMy music teacher taught me, and she said, \u201cYou\u2019ll understand a variety of music keeps one\u2019s head out of the sand.\u201d
\nI still love country music, but with classical ya know, I should have pinned my ears back to its cadence years ago.<\/p>\n
