There\u2019s no question about it. It\u2019s the\u00a0main reason\u00a0why so many homeowners have delayed their move in recent years. But here\u2019s something to consider.<br \/>\n<strong>While your low rate might be ideal, it doesn\u2019t make up being too cramped, having a staircase your knees can\u2019t handle anymore, or being 1,000 miles from your family.\u00a0<\/strong>And those real-life needs are pushing more sellers off the fence despite today\u2019s rates.<br \/>\nData\u00a0shows\u00a0the share of homeowners with a mortgage rate\u00a0below 3%\u00a0is dropping as more people move. Downsizing can be a major relief: fewer rooms to clean, less to maintain, and lower utility bills, too.<\/li>\n<li>You Want to Be Closer to Family:\u00a0Whether it\u2019s to help with grandchildren or care for aging parents, sometimes the pull of being near loved ones outweighs the math.<br \/>\nA Relationship in Your Life Has Changed:\u00a0Divorce, separation, or moving in together after a marriage or new partnership \u2013 all can create the need for a fresh start and a new place to call home.<\/li>\n<li>Your Job Is Taking You Somewhere New: If you finally landed your dream job or your partner\u2019s company is relocating, you may need to move too.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What About Mortgage Rates?<\/strong><br \/>\nYes, experts expect mortgage rates to ease, but slowly. And for many, that waiting game has already gone on long enough.<\/p>\n<p>According\u00a0to\u00a0Realtor.com,\u00a0nearly 2 in 3 potential sellers have been thinking about moving for over a year.\u00a0If you\u2019re one of them, maybe it\u2019s time to ask:<\/p>\n<p><em>How much longer are you willing to press pause on your life?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Bottom Line<\/strong><br \/>\nMaybe your current house fit your life five years ago. But that \u201cfor now\u201d house you bought in 2020? It just can\u2019t deliver on what you need in 2025. And that\u2019s not just okay, it\u2019s normal.<br \/>\nMortgage rates are part of the equation, for sure.
