Bryce Angell – The outdoors has always been a large part of my life. My father was an outfitter and guide for 35 years and I was there to shoe and care for the horses and help him do the cooking. We took many great trips into the Yellowstone area. Even now that I\u2019m older, we still ride into the Tetons, Yellowstone and surrounding areas. My poems are mostly of personal experience. I am now retired and enjoying life to the fullest. I plan to do more riding and writing.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Should cowboys always have some hair? I\u2019d really like to know. Does a cowboy\u2019s face without some hair leave too much mug to show? <\/span><\/p>\n

If you\u2019re born a real good-looker, like Eastwood and Redford are, you may not want to hide it, though you ain\u2019t no cowboy star. <\/span><\/p>\n

But if your looks are somewhat plain, let\u2019s say like Gabby Hayes, just slap a beard right on your face. Sure helped his cowboy days. <\/span><\/p>\n

Now if you\u2019re thinking \u201cmustache,\u201d Sam Elliot is your man. He\u2019s got a really nice healthy one. Grow that kind, if you can. <\/span><\/p>\n

Most cowboys that I know don\u2019t really fancy facial hair, but let me tell you \u2018bout one guy. And this is true, I swear. <\/span><\/p>\n

A few years back, we hired a hand who wore a full red beard. It also had some streaks of brown, \u2018cuz he did something weird. <\/span><\/p>\n

His mouth was always full of chew. I never saw him spit. When that juice drooled out onto his beard, he rubbed it in a bit. <\/span><\/p>\n

Now if he hadn\u2019t had that beard, where would his juice have gone? Good thing he had some facial hair for it to land upon. <\/span><\/p>\n

My homely face grows hair just fine, but what about on top? I use a hat to cover up that gone-forever crop.<\/span><\/p>\n

So I\u2019ve tried to think about a way to get some hair up there. If others have it, I should, too. It\u2019s really only fair.<\/span><\/p>\n

If I could take a chunk of hide and hair right off my chest, and sew it where I need it most, I\u2019d look my Sunday best. <\/span><\/p>\n

My good friend said, \u201cI think you\u2019re nuts. You\u2019ve lost your brains somewhere.\u201d That\u2019s an easy thing for him to say. He\u2019s got a head of hair.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For some, there\u2019s lots of hair up there and others on their face. Don\u2019t worry if you\u2019re hair-deprived. It\u2019s really no disgrace.<\/span><\/p>\n

Now about my question. Should a cowboy have some hair? I guess there\u2019s no one answer. Maybe shouldn\u2019t even care.<\/span><\/p>\n
