Coming to a small town was a hard transition, especially for my kids. As the COVID restrictions lifted, we were struggling to figure out activities and events for our children to party in. We crossed paths with Herbert and Mary Romero at a Spanish Heritage event in town. They were so welcoming, generous, and hospitable! They began inviting us to other events in town, a lot of which was put on by our local Kiwanis club. All of the members we have come in contact with do an amazing job to make the community feel welcome and invited at these events. I know it makes such a difference for our youth. My kids look forward to these events every year.

I was able to present a proposal this year for Syringa Mountain School. At that meeting I had the opportunity to hear others present their proposals. It gave me a broader perspective of what Kiwanis does and represents. I am honored to know members of the committee and to understand that the values of Kiwanis are part of who they are as a whole—compassionate, loving, caring, inspiring, and present. I appreciate all that Kiwanis continues to do for our Valley and I know it is a gift to our youth to have these community events.

NUESTRA VOZ CUENTA
