After a holiday break, the Hailey Public Library is again offering two popular knitting opportunities for beginners to learn basic knitting technique or for the more experienced knitter to improve their skills.
\n\u201cLearn to Knit\u201d is a free, 4-week class co-taught by master knitters\u00a0Patricia Lirk and Joanne Squire!\u00a0 The series will focus on the basics and participants will create a personal project. Classes will be held each Tuesday from 5:30-7:00 PM starting January 7 at the Library, 7 West Croy.\u00a0 Participants should bring their own yarn and needles.\u00a0 Space is limited and pre-registration is required.\u00a0 Email\u00a0kristin.fletcher@haileypubliclibrary.org\u00a0or call 208-788-2036 to reserve your spot.
\n\u201cKnitting Circle\u201d is an informal gathering facilitated by master knitters Patricia Lirk and Joanne Squire!\u00a0 It will be held on the 2nd\u00a0and 4th\u00a0Wednesdays at the Library,\u00a07 West Croy, from 5:30-7:00 PM, starting January 8.\u00a0 The Circle is suitable for all abilities.\u00a0 New this month – optional instruction in a cool advanced technique. Participants should bring their own yarn, needles and knitting project.\u00a0 Pre-registration is helpful for planning.\u00a0 Email\u00a0kristin.fletcher@haileypubliclibrary.org.
\n\u201cWith snow and cold on everyone\u2019s mind, now is the perfect time to learn to knit for the first time or perfect your skills during these long winter evenings,\u201d\u00a0commented organizer Kristin Fletcher, the library\u2019s programs and engagement manager, \u201cPatricia and Joanne are wonderful teachers and make learning so fun.\u201d
\nPatricia Lirk first leaned to knit through a store she worked at 30 years ago and has been hooked ever since.\u00a0 She opened Sun Valley Needle Arts in Ketchum in 2010 and shares her talents teaching classes for the general public, girl scout troops and attendees at local conferences.\u00a0 Her friend and colleague, Joanne Squire is a long-time local knitter.
