These scams involve spoofing Idaho Power\u2019s phone number and demanding immediate payment or service will be disconnected.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Customers also continue to report \u202fthe use of misleading statements by some companies selling residential solar systems. Some common tactics being reported include solar sales representatives:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stating they are affiliated with or have been sent by Idaho Power<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Telling customers they will never pay a power bill again<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Providing inaccurate information regarding Idaho Power\u2019s rates, solar payback periods, tax credits, and how and in what amount excess energy is credited back to the customer<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Giving false promises of customers being \u201clocked in\u201d to current pricing<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Idaho Power never demands payment over the phone or requests payment through prepaid cards. And, Idaho Power\u2019s tariffs are not contracts and are subject to change with approval from the Idaho and Oregon public utility commissions. Any Idaho Power visits to customers\u2019 homes will be preceded by a phone call or other communication. Idaho Power employees will arrive in a company vehicle clearly marked with Idaho Power\u2019s logo.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you are contacted by someone claiming to be from Idaho Power and anything seems suspicious, hang up and call Idaho Power Customer Service immediately at \u202f(208) 388-2323 \u202for\u202f 1-800-488-6151 \u202f(outside the Treasure Valley).<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Phone scams targeting Idaho Power customers\u2014both homes and businesses\u2014have been on the rise, the utility company says.
