{"id":17089,"date":"2021-12-15T00:10:19","date_gmt":"2021-12-15T00:10:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/woodriverweekly.com\/?p=17089"},"modified":"2021-12-14T18:30:52","modified_gmt":"2021-12-14T18:30:52","slug":"hispanic-homes-in-crisis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/woodriverweekly.com\/index.php\/2021\/12\/15\/hispanic-homes-in-crisis\/","title":{"rendered":"HISPANIC HOMES IN CRISIS!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><em>BY MONICA CARRILLO<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><b>OUR VOICE COUNTS<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">After being impacted by COVID-19, and having to reschedule a surgery that was just performed last month, a single mother of three kids, living at the J &amp; J Trailer Parks, received an eviction notice, without any pre-warning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p6\">Marina Hinojo, a single mother of three and providing a home to her cousin, was notified of an eviction notice at the trailer parks on Nov. 30, causing panic across her and many other families living in that neighborhood.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p6\">\u201cI was in shock,\u201d Hinojo said. \u201cI haven\u2019t been able to work these past three months, I have no insurance, and I just had surgery. It\u2019s worrying.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p6\">Hinojo and others are begging for the owner to have more compassion toward her and the other families that are being affected by the eviction notice.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p6\">\u201cThere are many people who want to speak out, but we\u2019re scared of the owner getting mad and reducing the time we have to find a home,\u201d Hinojo said. \u201cMost of us are single mothers with children to feed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p6\">With Hinojo\u2019s kids being 14, 18 and 20, and her cousin being 22, they are aware of the situation and have been just as anxious about the situation. They have collectively worked together to look for a home or an apartment in Ketchum, Hailey or Bellevue, but have seen that prices have only increased.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p6\">\u201cThey want to continue living in this valley, but it\u2019s hard when all the homes are thousands of dollars or more.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p6\">More than 20 families are living in these trailer parks and the majority of these families are Latinx\/Hispanic.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><b>NUESTRA VOZ CUENTA<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">Despu\u00e9s de ser afectada por COVID-19 y tener que reprogramar una cirug\u00eda que se acaba de realizar el mes pasado, una madre soltera de 3 hijos, que vive en los parques de remolques J &amp; J, recibi\u00f3 un aviso de desalojo, sin ninguna advertencia previa.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p6\">Marina Hinojo, madre soltera de 3 hijos y que proporciona un hogar a su prima, fue notificada de un aviso de desalojo en los parques de remolques el 30 de noviembre, causando p\u00e1nico en ella y en muchas otras familias que viven en ese vecindario.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p6\">\u201cEstaba en estado de shock,\u201d dijo Hinojo. \u201cNo he podido trabajar estos \u00faltimos tres meses, no tengo seguro y acabo de operarme.
