To celebrate Native American Heritage Month, the Hailey Public Library will host Tony Tekaroniake Evans discussing his new book, \u201cTeaching Native Pride: Upward Bound and the Legacy of Isabel Bond,\u201d on Thursday, Dec. 2, at 5:30 p.m.<\/p>\n
RSVP to kristin.fletcher@haileypubliclibrary.org.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re delighted to invite our friend, award-winning writer and journalist Tony Evans to share the story of a remarkable University of Idaho professor and her successful program that helped low-income and at-risk Native students attend college,\u201d stated Kristin Fletcher, the library\u2019s programs and engagement manager. \u201cBond intertwined regional Native American history and her own Idaho family history to help Indian students break away from entrenched negative cycles. In addition, many Anglos gained a deeper appreciation for their Native neighbors\u2019 culture and history.\u201d<\/p>\n Evans is the author of \u201cA History of Indians in the Sun Valley Area\u201d (Blaine County Historical Museum 2016).
