{"id":16816,"date":"2021-10-20T00:38:43","date_gmt":"2021-10-20T00:38:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/woodriverweekly.com\/?p=16816"},"modified":"2021-10-19T18:40:59","modified_gmt":"2021-10-19T18:40:59","slug":"hispanicitizenshipathway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/woodriverweekly.com\/index.php\/2021\/10\/20\/hispanicitizenshipathway\/","title":{"rendered":"HispaniCitizenshiPathway!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><em>By Monica Carrillo<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>OUR VOICE COUNTS<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">With midterms coming to an end at the University of Idaho, I have been working alongside the Office of Multicultural Affairs in preparing for DACA Awareness Week, which will be held the first two weeks of November.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p6\"><span class=\"s1\">Last spring, I was able to put together the first ever DACA Awareness Week at the U of I and had a couple of speakers, including DACA recipient and lawyer Luis Cortes, to speak about their experiences, their journeys and current thoughts on governmental approaches to immigration reform.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p6\"><span class=\"s1\">This year, after recently coming back from Washington, D.C., a second time, I hope to crucially express through speakers and socials the importance of the immigrant community and what they do for this country. Citizenship for all has been a number one priority for myself and many others who live and witness this fear of deportation and continuous hate toward our community and I am extremely grateful to have the support system on campus to help me do so. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><b>NUESTRA VOZ CUENTA<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">C<\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\">on los t\u00e9rminos intermedios llegando a su fin en la Universidad de Idaho, he estado trabajando junto con la Oficina de Asuntos Multiculturales en la preparaci\u00f3n de la Semana de Conciencia de la DACA, que se celebrar\u00e1 las dos primeras semanas de noviembre.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p6\"><span class=\"s1\">La primavera pasada, pude organizar la primera semana de conciencia de DACA en la U de I y tuve un par de oradores, entre ellos un recipiente de DACA y abogado, Luis Cortes, para hablar sobre sus experiencias, sus viajes y las reflexiones actuales sobre los enfoques gubernamentales de la reforma migratoria.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p6\"><span class=\"s1\">Este a\u00f1o, despu\u00e9s de haber regresado recientemente de Washington, D.C., por segunda vez, espero expresar crucialmente a trav\u00e9s de oradores y sociales la importancia de la comunidad inmigrante y lo que hacen por este pa\u00eds.
