{"id":16775,"date":"2021-10-06T01:15:21","date_gmt":"2021-10-06T01:15:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/woodriverweekly.com\/?p=16775"},"modified":"2021-10-05T20:12:27","modified_gmt":"2021-10-05T20:12:27","slug":"st-lukes-to-help-heal-housing-crisis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/woodriverweekly.com\/index.php\/2021\/10\/06\/st-lukes-to-help-heal-housing-crisis\/","title":{"rendered":"St. Luke\u2019s To Help Heal Housing Crisis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A partnership between the Valley\u2019s healthcare system, that system\u2019s fundraising arm, and the area\u2019s affordable housing developer have announced plans to help solve the region\u2019s housing crisis\u2014for healthcare workers, at least.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">St. Luke\u2019s Health System (SLHS), St. Luke\u2019s Wood River Foundation and ARCH Community Housing Trust (ARCH) said they will partner on the development of 12 three-bedroom single-family homes at Quigley Farms. Construction is slated for this fall and should wrap up in 12 months. St. Luke\u2019s will provide funding for the construction while ARCH is contributing the land and will oversee construction.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The homes will be long-term rentals for St. Luke\u2019s Wood River (SLWR) employees who meet criteria as determined by the hospital and the leases will stipulate that continued employment is a condition of housing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cSt. Luke\u2019s Wood River currently has 69 vacant positions with a vacancy rate much higher than the three hospitals in our region. Nursing positions account for 28% of the vacancies.
