Bryce Angell – The outdoors has always been a large part of my life. My father was an outfitter and guide for 35 years and I was there to shoe and care for the horses and help him do the cooking. We took many great trips into the Yellowstone area. Even now that I\u2019m older, we still ride into the Tetons, Yellowstone and surrounding areas. My poems are mostly of personal experience. I am now retired and enjoying life to the fullest. I plan to do more riding and writing.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Way back in 1968, the price of gas was cheap. Two bits would buy a gallon and a five would fill my Jeep.<\/p>\n

The tickets at the Roxy were about a buck back then. Two Cokes, a bag of popcorn, still left money from my ten.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s been over fifty years. Those prices now sky high.\u00a0 <\/span>And when it comes to datin\u2019, well, I barely even try.<\/p>\n

Last Friday night I asked my wife, \u201cHow \u2018bout a date tonight?\u201d I swear the look she gave me was, \u201cYou sure you\u2019re feeling right?\u201d<\/p>\n

A ton of bricks sure doesn\u2019t have to hit me on the head, to remind me where I\u2019m slackin\u2019, just a look like hers instead.<\/p>\n

I asked, \u201cHow \u2018bout a movie, even though they charge too much?\u201d I was lookin\u2019 to impress her. Said, \u201cThis time we won\u2019t go Dutch.\u201d<\/p>\n

So, we readied for the evenin\u2019, mind made up, hell bent to go. I even took a shower, only been a week or so.<\/p>\n

Sixty dollars filled my Chevy. Dang sure has an appetite! We drove down to the movie house. The tickets took a bite!<\/p>\n

The attendant took my twenty, then I said, \u201cTwo tickets, please.\u201d He needed five more dollars and demanded with such ease.<\/p>\n

I stepped up to the snack bar. Found the prices out of reach. \u2018Cuz the popcorn and the soda pop were five whole dollars each.<\/p>\n

I\u2019d spent a whoppin\u2019 hundred bucks before the movie showed. My Mastercard was handy but was runnin\u2019 overload!<\/p>\n

The superheroes movie wasn\u2019t bad, I must admit. But, ain\u2019t got much recollection \u2019cuz I slept through most of it.<\/p>\n

So, next time when I am thinkin\u2019 that I should impress my wife. We\u2019ll sit down on the porch swing, share a Coke and talk \u2018bout life.<\/p>\n
