Idaho State Police on Monday confirmed the \u201cactive\u201d status of two high-profile cases that sent Valley residents reeling in 2020. In the suicide-homicide investigation of former Hailey police officer Jared Murphy, Lieutenant Robert Boone said the state\u2019s findings have not yet been sent to the Blaine County prosecutor\u2019s office. Boone did acknowledge that their investigation is nearly wrapped up.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs of now, the prosecutor\u2019s office has not seen the full report,\u201d Boone said.<\/p>\n
On Oct. 22, 2020, with his second-effort Bellevue mayoral election fast approaching, Murphy entered a family-run, Main Street coffee shop in Bellevue and it is presumed the 28-year-old ended his life and that of Ashley Midby, 34, his former girlfriend.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt appears both individuals died as a result of gunshot wounds. The incident is currently being investigated as a possible murder-suicide. Investigators say it appears both individuals were known to each other,\u201d read the brief statement to the press issued by Idaho State Police in October.<\/p>\n
In the matter of former Bellevue Marshal Ross Scaggs, he was arrested Oct. 13 on felony possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, following a tip alleging Bellevue\u2019s lead law enforcement officer delivered a marijuana product while on duty and an investigation carried out by the Blaine County Sheriff\u2019s Office and prosecutor\u2019s office.<\/p>\n
