{"id":14471,"date":"2021-01-13T00:30:58","date_gmt":"2021-01-13T00:30:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/woodriverweekly.com\/?p=14471"},"modified":"2021-01-22T02:03:47","modified_gmt":"2021-01-22T02:03:47","slug":"through-the-eyes-of-a-youth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/woodriverweekly.com\/index.php\/2021\/01\/13\/through-the-eyes-of-a-youth\/","title":{"rendered":"Through\u00a0The Eyes Of A Youth\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><b>OUR VOICE COUNTs<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-14473\" src=\"https:\/\/woodriverweekly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/logo-400x400.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" \/>On Jan. 6, 2020, Donald Trump supporters filled the streets on Capitol Hill causing a moment of caution for many Democrats of what could come nearing the inauguration.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">But as seen from many clips, news articles and social media outlets, these pro-Trump protestors were not held as highly accountable as those who are part of the Black Lives Matter movement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">Not only that, but for the first time in history the Confederate flag entered the Capitol building; this flag is a symbol of sociopolitical exclusion of people of color that have been enslaved.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">As an undocumented Hispanic student who continuously fantasized and tried to reach the American Dream, I realize how unrealistic that is when half of this country is clearly against social progression, against the Black Lives Matter movement, against DREAMers, against anything and\/or anyone who isn\u2019t for white surpremacy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">Nevertheless, this situation can only bring more open conversation if we let each other speak and explain our concerns. This is such an unfortunate event, so strive to work hard for our community of people of color, for those who feel betrayed by law enforcement, and for anyone struggling to find the words to say to someone who is frustrated and concerned.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>NUESTRA VOZ CUENTA<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-12762\" src=\"https:\/\/woodriverweekly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/burgundy-projectoolsuccess-400x94.png\" alt=\"NUESTRA VOZ CUENTA\" width=\"400\" height=\"94\" \/>El 6 de enero de 2020, los partidarios de Donald Trump llenaron las calles en Capitol Hill causando un momento de precauci\u00f3n para muchos dem\u00f3cratas de lo que podr\u00eda acercarse a la inauguraci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">Pero visto desde muchos videos, art\u00edculos de noticias y medios de comunicaci\u00f3n sociales, estos manifestantes que votaron por Trump no fueron considerados tan altamente responsables como los que forman parte del Movimiento \u201cBlack Lives Matter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">No s\u00f3lo eso, sino por primera vez en la historia, la bandera confederada entr\u00f3 en el edificio del Capitolio; esta bandera es un s\u00edmbolo de exclusi\u00f3n sociopol\u00edtica de personas de color que han sido esclavadas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">Como estudiante hispano indocumentado que continuamente fantase\u00f3 y trat\u00f3 de alcanzar el Sue\u00f1o Americano, me doy cuenta de lo poco realista que es cuando la mitad de este pa\u00eds est\u00e1 claramente en contra de la progresi\u00f3n social, contra el movimiento Black Lives Matter, contra DREAMers, contra cualquier cosa y\/o cualquier persona que no sea para la surpremacia blanca.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">Sin embargo, esta situaci\u00f3n s\u00f3lo puede traer una conversaci\u00f3n m\u00e1s abierta si nos dejamos hablar y explicar nuestras preocupaciones.
