Medicaid is an important tool for our LatinX and immigrant families here in Idaho. With policies such as the Public Charge and health concerns like COVID-19, it is now more important than ever that we are all receiving the correct information to protect our families. This is why Centro de Comunidad y Justica in Boise continues to be open and available for our diverse communities of Idaho.<\/p>\n

During three listening sessions conducted in Boise, Caldwell, and Hailey, we were given the chance to hear what our communities had to say about Medicaid.<\/p>\n

Participants reported that Medicaid helps keep their families healthy by enabling them to seek the care they need when they need it without the fear and stress of major hospital bills.<\/p>\n

\u201cWithout Medicaid, you would need to sacrifice the little bit that you earn [to pay the medical bills]. I would have to work extra hours, I would need to pay childcare, and the family loses balance.\u201d (community member) <\/i><\/p>\n

During these uncertain times, when healthcare is so crucial to keep families healthy, it is important that our communities consult with an immigration lawyer to understand what impact, if any, Public Charge has on their immigration status if their families or children are on Medicaid.<\/p>\n

Medicaid es un recurso muy importante para nuestras familias LatinX y inmigrante aqu\u00ed en Idaho. Por pol\u00edticas como la Carga P\u00fabica y preocupaciones de salud que viene con COVID-19 es importante mas que nunca que estamos recibiendo la informaci\u00f3n correcta para proteger nuestras familias. Por eso Centro De Comunidad y Justica contin\u00faa ser abierto y disponible a nuestras comunidades diversas en Idaho.<\/p>\n

Durante tres sesiones de escucha que tuvimos en Boise, Caldwell, y Hailey, las comunidades nos proveyeron la oportunidad de escuchar de lo que pensaban de Medicaid.<\/p>\n

Participantes reportaron que Medicaid ayuda a mantener a sus hijos saludables al habilitarlos a buscar el cuidado que sus ni\u00f1os necesitan cuando lo necesitan \u2013 sin el temor y el estr\u00e9s de gastos m\u00e9dicos mayores.<\/p>\n

\u201cSin Medicaid, necesitar\u00eda sacrificar lo poquito que uno gana [para pagar las cuentas m\u00e9dicas]. Tendr\u00eda que trabajar horas extras, tendr\u00eda que pagar cuidado infantil\/guarder\u00eda, y la familia pierde balance.\u201d (miembro de la comunidad)<\/i><\/p>\n

Durante estos tiempos inciertos cuando el seguro de salud es tan crucial para nuestras familias es importante que se consulte a un abogado de inmigraci\u00f3n para entender que impacto tiene la Carga P\u00fablica, si es que hay alguno, en su estado migratorio si usted o su hijo est\u00e1n en Medicaid.<\/p>\n
