{"id":13588,"date":"2020-06-10T13:06:27","date_gmt":"2020-06-10T19:06:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/woodriverweekly.com\/?p=13588"},"modified":"2020-06-10T13:06:27","modified_gmt":"2020-06-10T19:06:27","slug":"spend-our-limited-county-resources-to-help-our-citizens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/woodriverweekly.com\/index.php\/2020\/06\/10\/spend-our-limited-county-resources-to-help-our-citizens\/","title":{"rendered":"Spend Our Limited County Resources To Help Our Citizens"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">I\u2019m not sure that Alan Richardson, as a retired person from a successful career and with a nice residence on the river as his adopted community retirement home, understands the pain that our working population is going through right now.\u00a0The April unemployment data showed that at least 21.7 percent of our 13,899 local workers were out of work and filing for unemployment insurance in April.\u00a0And I say at least because I understand that many people\u00a0have been trying to file for\u00a0months and have not heard anything from the state yet, much less received any unemployment funds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">I asked the County Commissioners on March 17th\u00a0to use county resources to help citizens apply for unemployment insurance, as I could see how such a crush of applicants would swamp the system.\u00a0New claims at the rate of 2,500 to 8,000 per week every week\u00a0have been officially filed by Idahoans\u00a0in the month of May.
