Courtesy photo by Anna Leone<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p2\">Wood River High School senior Stacey Pedraza says that the Wood River Valley and the people she has met growing up here have given her the confidence to be herself.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">During her four years at WRHS, Pedraza has noticed many changes in her hopes and dreams for post-graduation. One of those things is her desired career path.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">\u201cI thought I always wanted to go into culinary,\u201d Pedraza said. \u201cBut then I learned more about the human brain and realized how amazing it is\u2014it\u2019s like our motherboard.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">Pedraza is currently enrolled in art, college English, math, government and culinary.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">\u201cI still love culinary,\u201d Pedraza said. \u201cI enjoy making food for other people and seeing the expression on their faces when they eat the food I make.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">She has taken culinary courses since she was a freshman and for her personal project she made her own cookbook. A personal project is a graduation requirement at WRHS displaying an in-depth look at a specific area of interest.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">\u201cOne of my highlights from high school is becoming someone I didn\u2019t know that I could become,\u201d Pedraza said. \u201cI was a quiet kid and now I know how to voice my own opinions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">Pedraza says that her teachers are to thank for helping her find her voice.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">\u201cMy teachers encouraged me to speak my voice,\u201d Pedraza said. \u201cAnd told me I have good opinions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">Next year Pedraza is attending Boise State University with a plan to major in psychology.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">\u201cI appreciate a lot of things growing up here,\u201d Pedraza said. \u201cI continue to meet amazing people and I just think, like, how can you be so happy?
