On Sunday, September 21, the Climate Action Coalition, in partnership with the Idaho Chapter of the Sierra Club will host the Solar Cycle and Rally as part of Sun Day, the first-ever nationwide day of action calling for the rapid deployment of clean energy that is affordable, reliable and ready to go.
The event will feature renewable energy information, speakers from Protect Our Winters (POW), local solar energy companies, students,… plus bike raffles, a bike tune up clinic and art activities for kids. The goal is to send a clear message: we have the tools to power our communities with clean energy and overwhelming public support to do it. Now is the time to ramp up local efforts to ramp up renewable energy adoption, as well as state and federal action.
Sun Day is a nationwide call to action on September 20-21, 2025, celebrating the power of clean energy and mobilizing millions to accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels. Solar energy is now the cheapest form of electricity generation in history, yet barriers remain to its widespread adoption. Through hundreds of local events like this one, Sun Day aims to demonstrate the overwhelming public support for renewable energy and build momentum for policy changes needed to address climate change.
We encourage everyone to bike to the event with friends and family. Trailhead Bikes will be providing free bike valet parking and tune ups (first come/first served) at Hop Porter Park.
Recycling and composting will be provided by the ERC.
